16th
     Annual
Dam Gathering
Held at Lake Shasta in California
Just north of Redding California.
The first couple of days of the gathering the weather was pretty good, But when the weekend came
around it rained cats & dogs, But we made the best of it & we still had a great time.
I am sure glad that I had my awning setup on my Teardrop & my Easy-up  awning.
This was the first time I used the awning set that I built 2 days before we left for this gathering It worked great, I will do away with
the blue tarps & use gray tarps like I used on the top.
We decided to go for a ride to see if we might be able to find the sun, So we took the Lake shore drive road heading
south just buy the freeway on ramp which is just  north of the Antlers Campground.
We drove aprox. 4 or 5 miles & the asphalt ended, But we kept on going.
The road did get a little rough & narrow at times & with it raining there was a lot of water running down the road &
across the road in many areas.
This was a really nice drive with a lot of pretty scenery & we also seen some deer & a lot more rain, we did get above
the clouds & guess what there we're more clouds above them. (I also had to get out & move a few tree branches off
of the road)
After the asfault ended the road went aprox. 9 more miles & we climbed the whole 9 miles so we we're pretty high,
where we had to turn around  apparently  the BLM or fire fighters had made a (BIG) trench across the road, it looked
as if there had been a fire in the area not to long ago.
The sad thing was there was a pretty good road on the other side that looked as if it was heading back down the
mountian, the next year we will try to find where we can access the road from the other side, I'm sure there is an
enterance  off of one of the freeway exits down by the lake somewhere.
Beginning Friday the clouds decided to really let loose and the rain did not really let up till
Sunday morning.
Rain, Hail or Snow there always seems to be so much food, If anyone went hungry at this gathering it was there fault.
Time to eat a good breakfast                              Heres our new T Drop dropper that I built           And heres our campsite pet.
Jan made us a very tasty dinner.
Sweeties 2nd vacation she did good.
This years 16th annual Dam Gathering was a wet one, But we still had a great time we plan on being at next
years gathering & I would recommend that if you did not attend or if you did attend this gathering that you
should mark it down on your calender and try to attend the 17th Dam Gathering in 2010.
This gathering is usually held the last week of April.
