TEARDROP
TRAILER
CONSTRUCTION
Page-10
Almost done Welcome back.
Well here you can see that
I did not use the running
lights that came with the
Trailer, I put on some real
nice chrome one's on,
Which matched the polished
stainless steel that I put
on my trailer.
Here you can see that I
used screws and pop rivets
to attach my stainless steel
trim pieces, But I used long
enough screws and rivets
so they would go through the
wood and aluminum and also
go through the steel trailer
frame.
I also put some grade 8 chrome
allen bolts every place where
a frame cross member was
located.
Here I put some chrome
hooks which will come in
handy for hanging towels,
shoe's, trash bag, etc.
Here I cut out a hole in the
rear back side and installed
a water tight cover that I can
open up and run power or
cable tv cable or a phone
line in if I want or need to.
I also mounted two more
chrome hooks that I will use
to mount my chrome table that
I made to hold our cast iorn,
Or just to use as a table.
Here is my polished stainless
steel battery box that I made.
It turned out nice.
I also cut out some heavy
diamond and bolted it to the
tung doing this helped to
strengthen it up + it looked
good.
I also did away with the 1-7/8"
ball hitch and put a heavier 2"
hitch on and I also bolted and
welded the safety chains on.
And by doing away with the
smaller hitch I was able to raise
the front of the trailer about 4"
when the trailer is hooked up
to my vehicle since the smaller
hitch was mounted on the top of
the tongue frame.
Also by using the heavier 2"
hitch it also help strengthen
the tongue frame, And I was able
to purchase and install a nice
center mount jack.
I also welded a piece of steel
plate under the tongue to
strengthen it up.
In this picture >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>v
This is a joke, If you just use v
the cross support that they tell v
you to use by its self I will bet
your tonguue will end up twisting
or bending real soon.
I would suggest that you run two
heavier pieces of iorn channel or
angle across the tongue top and
bottom and completely do away
with the one thin piece of
channel they tell you to use.
I would use the same pre drilled
holes because the more holes
you drill may weaken the tongue
frame.(This is just my opinion).

Above is the 1-7/8" hitch I did away with
Below is the 2" hitch that I used
